Surfing the Net is a Real Chore these days. ALERT!
You know, what's the deal with the Adware, Pop-Ups, Spam, Spyware, Keyloggers, Viruses, Data Miners, and Dailers!
I swear I now use 4 different pieces of software to eliminate this garbage. I have Norton Antivirus and Zone Alarm Pro, and stuff still gets through! I can't tell you how many times I've had my browser hijacked by websites, and the homepage changed to some ad site by attempting to permanently change the Windows Registry. Fuc-kers! I've become a hacker on my own system for crying out loud. I know more $hit about this now that I would otherwise even care to know. I've taken countless updates from MS for security holes and patches for IE and WMP, and after some of them my system ran slower. I had the Blaster Worm sleeping on my machine and discovered it upon trying to update it at MS and had to go through a whole pile of BS to remove it. I receive viruses in my email EVERY SINGLE DAY and probably 20 to 30 spam Emails for Penis Enlargement, Vicotins, "The Magic Lubricant," The Banned CD, "Generate $1000 a day from Home!" etc. I mean it takes about 5 seconds to hold down the delete button and watch them all disappear but ah what's the deal with all the spam?
I strongly advise anyone at this board to get AdAware 6.0 and SpyBot 1.2 and run these to assist in removing all the Data Miners, Spyware, and Hacker Toolz from your system. I have a serious belief that this message board is one source of my own troubles as well as many of yours. If you have anything like "Comet Cursor, WeatherBug, and Bonzi Buddy" you're really screwed over, and have a ton of adware on your machine, delete it immediately. So many people have this nonsense on their computers.

Yea it can be, especially if your fairly new to the internet. In a few months your machine will rin slow and you'lll be bombed by pop-ups by ad-ware. Sometimes when downloading from Kazaa you can come across a virus by accident. The Net is definately cloged even Google is. Plus the whole "Patriot Act" doesn't really help and you can damn sure that Big Brother isn't gonna do crap to help.
Jim: You ok, Gene?
Gene: Yea. I'll take this over the inside of a spaceship anyday.
Jim: I guess your cherry is officially popped now.
Re: Surfing the Net is a Real Chore these days. ALERT!
i don't really have problems with my computer and viruses. i have this norton security package and i go to virus websites on purpose to test it. it's really good i don't get viruses on my computer. plus i don't get popups which is really cool. once and a while one will pop up but i don't mind it. i don't download much anymore, i'd rather buy the cd i'm that kind of person that NEEDS the cd. and i don't browse much, unless i haev a purpose for browsing.

I use Avant Browser instead of IE, which has built-in pop-up protection, run Ad-Aware frequently, and have Norton Antivirus enabled to take care of viruses. I've never really had a problem.
Re: Surfing the Net is a Real Chore these days. ALERT!
Pop-ups don't bother me. My iMac has a thing where it automatically puts the pop-ups behind my browser window (they aren't blocked, just automatically moved out of the way. Also, because of how Mac works, they ALL disappear when I quit out of IE. I laugh at them. HA!
Unfortunately...my computer does few other things well.
