I saw Mr. Abid Chaudry`s entery in the Abdalians Directory. Are teachers who have not studied at CCH classified as abdalians.
I would like your thoughts on this issue.

we all respect them and they are important for us but they r not abdalians and therfore cannot be a part of us in that regard.

In the interest of keeping dissent alive may I ask you all to consider what Rugby would have been without Dr. Arnold? Was he not Rugby in his time and forever afterwards more than any Rugby pupil? Is not a great school a fugue played between the pupils and the masters and, thus, by eliminating one or the other does the music not end? Besides, is mere enrollment sufficient to be an "abdalian" or need one have stayed the entire five year course? And what of those who attended the school but did not conform to the majority's template in matters of intellect or manners? For instance, should those who preferred morning sleep to the promise of "khatib" sahib's houris be struck from the roster? What of those who were slow serving food in the "mess"? Surely anyone who did not excel at games must go! Slackers all! And while we are at it lets banish all who refused to jump the school walls to fetch fried fish from town! Where is the line to be drawn? On a less frivolous note, would our conversations not profit from Mr. Abid's participation as well as the participation of other CCH faculty members whether or not enrolled or graduated from CCH? At a time when Pakistan finds itself dealing with the consequences of excessive clarity and dogmatism, should the "abdalian" ethic not call out for greater inclusiveness and celebration of Isaiah Berlin's "crooked timber of humanity"? Just some thoughts for your consideration.

Interesting comments! Things used to be simpler during my stay at Hasanabdal. It went without saying that anybody who had been awarded a distinct kit number and had spent even a single day as a student at CCH was entitled to call himself an Abdalian. I can recall some of my teachers, who had grown from youth to old age teaching boys at Hasanabdal, being sarcastic about some 'intrinsic qualities' of abdalians, obviously separating themselves from the group.
I acknowledge that the teachers have played a very strong role in shaping our personalities in those crucial days of our lives. But just like Homo sapiens are distinct from Australopithecines, Neanderthals and all the species that had shaped their evolution and being simplistic, the just like the player of the tournament award cannot be awarded to the umpire who had officiated the game, the word Abdalian should only be reserved for the students of the school and we should have a separate directory for faculty and other staff at this website.
As for the notion of kicking the slackers, direct entrants, early leavers etc. out of the list, I think it would be analogous to saying that all humans living unhealthy lives, dying before the average age, living below the poverty line etc. should have the taxonomy amended for them and have a new species created where they could fit while Homo sapiens be reserved for the few who could enjoy all the luxuries this world had to offer. I guess we wouldn't like to see that happening, would we?

My Salam to all the elders on this msg board. I just wanna ask one simple thing. I don't know where you all are going with all this. The English u all ARE talking is only used in GRE and GMAT. No offense to anyone but to the point and easy is always better. Whats the use of a msg that half of the ppl skip without even reading it and the other half just overlook the whole thing.

One more thing thats whats wrong with us Desis. We love to talk, love to pull each other legs and never do anything practically. Now it applies to all, elders and youngsters. Thats why Pakistan is going backwards instead of going Fwd. Now here we are talking about CCH future. The KARTA DHARTA's may be having a cocktail party at theit mansion in the mean time. Who cares. CCH is gonna stay the same way. Shah Babar is gonna be there and Mitha is gonna be there. Who knows that he may the Principal of CCH tomorrow. We'll still b-t-h about but the top ppl in HOBA may not even know about this website. What a Shame.

hello everyone reading my message.A father can never be a son after once born in mental preparation point of view.As abdalians are mentally born and prepared there in CCH so faculty has been prepared some where else during their student life.They can never be abdalians.if they are; then, MESS CHACHA GEE AND WING CHACHA GEE should albo be abdaliabs.i am not comparing faculty with them because both polish abdalians in their own way.Both are to serve them in their own way.so i agree with bahi jan waqas abbasi.wishing u all the best of luck.AMAN/I/W
