I inherited a C melody sax manufactured by Couesnon @ Cie in Paris, France. The serial number stamped on the bell is 54500. There is also a small emblem shaped something like a pineapple that has 28 stamped into the center of it. I am trying to determine when sax was made. Any suggestions??

According to
www.saxpics.com/Couesnon/index.htm
your saxophone was made in 1928, as it's what's stamped in the pineapple that is the year.
French C melodies are rarer than USA ones, too. How does it sound?

I once owned a Couesnon alto sax in the 1970's. It was great sounding and finely constructed. My model was the "Monopole". I loved it and eventually sold it to a collector for a handsome profit. I also owned 2 Couesnon Flugelhorns. Also excellent instruments.

Although it hasn't been used much since the late 70's, this sax sounds great. It was repadded and had some springs changed in mid 70's. It is in mint condition. Not a single ding or scratch. Just needs a shine. Any suggestions of the monetary value of this instrument?
