I've bought Emperor last week...
What can I say...
First of all it's a great graphics and wonderful videos (I think actorplay is better than in TVseries !)
At last Westwood Studios added Bene Tleilaxu, Ix, Space Guild forces. But you can make alliance
only with Fremen, Sardaukar, Ix (I played House Atreides and don't know about other houses possible alliances)
Bene Gesserit mothers appeared only in video...
The action takes place when Shaddam was poisoned and House Corrino was destroyed.
Lansraad choosed three Great Houses to fight for the Lion Throne... House Atreides (duke Achillus) House Harkonnen (baron Rakkan), House Ordos (don't remeber who...)
There are a lot of new units, now all units of each house are unique.
Music for every house was written by three composers (each house - each composer), so you can now enjoy Atreides marshalling music with classical variations, Harkonnen hard rock with eastern motives or Ordos techno-trance !
The worms are wonderful ! By the way - now you can ride the worm with fremen fedaykin !
Battles takes place now not only at Arrakis but on Giedi Prome, Drakonis, Caladan and... GUILD HIGHLINER !
The plot is great and game becomes more interesting with every mission...
Oh ! I forgot about a tactic map !
Remember the old Dune2000 or Dune2 tactic map ?
You alway has two way to go on thoose maps...
Now, in a new tactic map there are at least 4 places to attack ! With own unique mission objectives on each ! Enemys now not only defending their lands of your attacts, they attacing your lands too !
With the help of tactic map you can move your prebuild bases and choose from which side you should attack enemy !
Emperor is the great game, Dune series from Weswood studios becomes more and more interesting and connected with original Frank Herbert's Dune universe !
Direct Hit ! Must have for all Dune fans !

In skirmish or multiplayer you just chose who you want as allies. There are 5 "sub houses" in the game Fremen, Sardaukar, Ix, Thelaxis(or what their name is), and the Guild.
In the single player, you need to earn their respect to make them ally with you.

Heinali: The Ordos leader is the Executrix Council - "four being sharing a single mind, who communicate through a hideous creature known only as the Speaker".
Turok: If you're allied with the Fremen, build the Fremen camp (the thing that looks like a helicopter made of cloth), upgrade it, and produce a Fedaykin. To call a worm, go to the open sand, and click on the unit (like deploying an MCV or mortar trooper). It will begin "thumping", and if lucky, will catch a worm. Be warned that the Fedaykin loses stealth when "thumping", and the worms are damn near impossible to control.

I would like to say something about the
Emperor: BFD.
First of all, it is a wonderful game. I loved it very much. I played with the Atreides (like everyone else). I didn't get the idea of the leader of the Ordos. Can someone explain it to me???
Secondly, The graphics is very good, but I think it's too good. The creators of the game took the graphics too far. Because of that the game can be played only in very powerful computers.

Hey Oded - that's the future. That kind of rotatable, zoomable graphics is not possible without a powerful computer.
It's a fact of life, and it seems reasonable enough to me - if you want to play the latest games, you need a newish computer.
Emperor is a great game, especially the graphics. It was what Dune 2000 should have been. One bone I had with it though - the tornadoes. They take away the "land is safe, sand is not" feeling, and there's no way to have just worms without tornadoes.

I agree with Taqwa. The game rocks and has great graphics, but you have to herd your men into a corner or something just to have them escape from the sandstorm/tornado or whatever it is. Otherwise, the game is great and very enjoyable.

great game, it has a good graphic, zoomable graphic, rotable, the unit is great, this game is really cool.
the story line is a sequel from the dune 2000.
since the day i saw the game preview on the westwood studio, i have liked this game very much.
and, indeed, this game really gave me the sensation of being the comander of the House Atreides
the house is almost completed, i'm verry happy that westwood added the tleilaxu, spacing guild force, and, there is FREMEN FEDAYKIN !!!!!!!
Long Live the Fighter !!!!

If you have a Geforce II 800mhz+ ATA100 the game runs fine. but ahtlon xp 1800+ with radeon 9200 is ideal :)

I think the ordos have that leader more because they have three rulers and that can cause divisions in a government. Three creatures having their minds melded into one kinda gets around that problem. Anyways though I highly reccomend everyone try playing as the ordos in skirmish at least once. I LOVe playing the sneaky people so the Ordos allied with the fremen and ix makes for a god house. your fremen warriors dispose of infantry while your laser tanks and apc's make quick work of any vehicles (shields are great by the way and so is the self-healing that the ordos have) use tha apc as anti-vehicles and send in the ix bombers or your sabs (i prefer the ix bombers cuz they're so much faster) anyways both Atreides and Ordos are good housed but I have trouble playing as the Harks because of the heavy slow units. The atreides are the most flexible as they can either go toe to toe or sneaky. harkonnen must always go toe to toe and ordos must (almost) always go sneaky (unless you have a few veteran apc's as they're camo'd and you can dominate the world.

I realy like this game because every house has unique units, I play campaign as atreiedes and they are my favorit. In skirmish, when I play against atreides, I hate their kindjal infantry and minotauruses because they destroy my defense from far,far away.(Don't talking about "Inkvine" catapult). My favorite subhouse is Spacing Guild of Navigators because they have very useful units(sneaky NIAB tank). Shame what I can't ally with them in campaign.I hate ordos, they armour is weak, they're turrets has short range, they have auto repair, but is soooooooooo slow.I don't like tleilaxu, freeky leeches are constantly jumping on my units and ... HARVESTERS!!!
The game is very good, and ... can somebody tell me how to get rid of these tleilaxu leeches when playing as atreides (chemical infantry is effective, but as I sad ordos SUCKS.)P.S.My opinion about harkonnen is the same as I sad for atreides.

If you get leeches on your harvesters you have to get them back to your refinery.
If memory serves me correctly, that removes them.
I think you can repair the harvester too if you are the Atreides. I know that removes them.
I think!
As for fighting the Atreides, you have to close with them fast. The Harks, though very powerfull are also very slow and take a lot of damage before they get into range.
No one seems to like to play with the Ordos, but I had my most enjoyable campaign with them.
You have to micromanage them much more than the other two factions. For example, as long as your laser tanks are moving, the enemy have a hard time hitting them. But in order to do as such you have to pay attention.
I had six laser tanks and I took down a number of Hark units including a few devastators quite easily. Just kept on driving the tanks around the enemy and kept them moving. The AI stops them for some reason as the Ordos.
I took a couple of losses, but nothing major.
If you play as the Ordos, getting an alliance with the Sardaukar is key.
They help the Ordos the most. The Sardaukar elite provide some great anti-air(the Ordos have no air units of note), something the Ordos lack and the regular Sardaukar give the Ordos some real punch vs the Harks and Atreides on the ground.
Sending Sardaukar elite out into the desert to take down carryalls is a good stratagem.
You can cripple the enemy this way.
Another stratagem is to take out all the enemy harvesters but capture the last one and don't destroy it.
The game always gives you a harvester when your last one is destroyed. So if you capture the enemies last harvester with a carryall, they are screwed.
I had the AI marching across the map one time trying to destroy my carryall with its last harvester in tow. Obviously the harvester would have been destroyed too. But the AI would then give the enemy another harvester.
I actually found the Harks to be the hardest to play with. They are really limited in long range weapons. The missile launcher is okay, but it can't take much damage before it gets wiped out.
And the inkvine catapault, while having great range is next to useless vs armor.
I don't like taking losses. So the Harks don't really fit in with how I like to fight.
Though there is some pleasure in rolling over the enemy through sheer force and numbers.
I like the Hark air units though.
The Atreides are the easiest to play with and have the best mix of units. Good range and pretty good staying power.

sup?
when i play i normally choose either harkonnen or atreides.
if you are playing a arrakis map use harkonnen adp's to cut your opponent from the spice(good for irritating enemies)if your not playing as the harks.....well her's a hint use engineers, lots of them....about 40 - 50 would do, heheheheheh!
