Here's more ;o)

The novel House Atreides was great to read( btw that reminds me of reading it today, again ). I think it's a great idea to write some prequals .. it gives the Dune novels more depth, knowing what happened before Muad'Dib. I hope Kevin and Brian continue there project. Thinking of more novels about Dune just make me drool ;o) It's great! more joy and pleasure into my life( which is boring )! Anyway I hope someone can give me a GOOD explanation why they think House Atreides is a bad novel...( it better be good! ).

Thnx!

I will not try to convince you that HA is a bad book. I could never say that an inanimate object is either good or bad. I can only say that it would be nice to have actually seen a story in there. I challenge anybody to tell me the story, and I don't wan't any re-written book jackets. I want in no less then twenty words, what the book was about. I maintain that it was about nothing. It tried to be about so much that it ended up being about nothing.

How can you judge a story with out completely knowing the tale. What is the story of Star Wars: It is the rise, fall and resurection of Anakin Skywalker. You can only know this by knowing the story from begining to end. (now if we can only have the rest of the middle sooner). You can't judge HA as a complete story - it isn't. It is only the beginning. My verdict is still out. I found pieces of this story too abrupt and lacking in substance, overall however I deeply enjoyed a return trip to the Dune world and I believe BH and KJA did a remarkable job of capturing the feel of Dune. Once imersed in the book It was like returning to a forgotten yet familiar home. I completely enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next two. Once those are read we can discuss the story as a whole.
