So you think the miniseries is crap. Fair enough.
What scenes would you shoot as the turning points in the story. What are your personal favourites?
So if YOU were the director who would YOU cast as Paul? Chani? Leto? etc etc. Sound studios and painted backgrounds are shit. Ok. Where would you shoot on location for Caladan, Dune & Geidi Prime? Kaitain? What music would accompany your masterpiece of the greatest book of all time?
Try keep to a reasonable budget!

As far as backgrounds are concerned, there was some on-location filming done for Star Wars out in the desert in Sudan, which came off really well. I think they could shoot Arrakis there.Casting isn't really my field, but evidently some people think it takes only the "latest" to get the flick some $$. Yesterday while surfing I came across an article where they actually debated whether or not to feature Jennifer Lopez as Chani (!!???)

Not really. If you liked the casting, storyline etc of the miniseries I would be interested to hear in light of the negative publicity the miniseries seems to have gotten. I actually havn't seen the miniseries as I live in Australia and it hasn't been released here yet and probably never will be. I'm subsequently very interested to hear about it.

I would've done very few things differently, as of now I have not seen (nor anyone else in the US except the producers of course) the FULL version of the miniseries, so it's very hard to judge on certain characters like Dr. Yueh etc. when they could very well have had scenes cut out that were important.
