I have created a new feature for the web site in the form of a live chat room.
The idea is that it will run alongside the fans forum and serve a separate purpose. The advantage of the chat room is that any number of people can 'meet' together in the chat area and post messages in a real-time discussion, just as if in conversation on the terraces!
The disadvantage is the logistics of getting people together and on-line at the same time. However, if the idea works then people can either publicly or privately arrange 'meeting times' for the chat room. Any thoughts from anyone? Maybe we could trial an initial meeting on Sunday evening, UK time. What are the time differences for our overseas visitors?

Great idea Steve, As an example of the time difference 8pm Sunday night would be 6am Monday morning in Brisbane Australia, 7am in Sydney.
Sunday night counts me out because of work on Mondays (Hope that doesn't sound confusing).
Saturday night/ Sunday morning in Brizzy, now I could make that.

Thanks for that Lee. I'm happy to see what people want to go with for meeting times. Any other good times for us at evenings or weekends to coincide with you being available in Brisbane?

OK, chat room uploaded and we're going with THIS SUNDAY EVENING AT 8.00PMfor the first organised meeting time. Just click on the link on the home page, wait for the grey box to load then enter your name and (optional) profile in the space provided. Hope to see a few of you there!

Its 8.30am in Briz and I'm there Steve, looks like I'm too late though. Oh well we'll get there.
As for future gatherings, I'm off work on Friday so Thurday night UK time sounds good.

Doh! I won't be available for tonight's gathering at 8.00pm, but it should be going ahead as planned with anyone else who cares to log in and air their views on The Fight to Return.
We've discussed next Saturday night as another possibility - with slightly more notice than this event. I'm away from Tuesday to Friday midweek as its half term.

Enjoyed my all to brief visit to the chat room, unfortunately, technical problems resulted in me being ejected from the room without having had the chance to say farewell...apologies to all
Steve
Have just noticed on the Club History pages that you herald the 1981 season by calling it the year of our first League and Cup double. I think we satisfied ourselves with just the league that year mate! Can't believe you've made a cock-up,or were you just checking to see whether we were awake at the back?
Whats all this about half term, you should try Northen Ireland we only get a poxy day.

OK Jim, hands up and be counted, probably my fault with the Club History page for 1981, glad your awake! Good to know you are looking at them anyway. Sorry to all, I'll try to be more accurate in future.
Nice to have a chat with you in the Chat Room, Jim, all the best...

Good spot Jim. Deliberate error obviously. Next set of years uploaded this evening with a couple of teething problems, but all being sorted out.
I don't know what I'd do with just a day for half term - I was feeling very much in need of this week off!
Does anyone have any thoughts of Saturday night as a chatroom meet?

So when are we going to have the next organised chat session?
Sitting at home on Sunday night wondering what everyone else is doing, even checked to see if there was anyone already in the chat room.
Steve,
Would it be worth thinking about sending a block email to anyone interested in being notified of an upcoming chat session?

Well I'm open to offers. I don't want to overdo it to start with, but I think its a worthwhile idea. I could easily set up a list of people who want to be kept informed, if thats what anyone wants. How about a Friday night?

Hope most people can make it. We haven't had a get together for a while so there should be plenty to discuss. We will have the list of potential sites available and also some suggested dates for Club CH supporters trips this season.

An interesting chat lasting most of the night. Thanks to Simon & Paul Tromans for the discussion on alternative sites and Ronnie Correy and Farewell organiser Tracey Hartle for news on tomorrow's meeting.
Will organise another when theres more to discuss. Any views on days or times is still welcome.

Sorry I missed the nitty gritty of it all, missing the first 90 minutes or so wasn't a bad effort after sitting up until 2am the night before listening to Wolves FC throw away another Goldon oppertunity away.
Great to catch up with Steve, Tracey and Brummie Andy.
Hope to catch even more fellow followers next time.

Nothing concrete. Bid deadline for Oldbury was this week, so we await what will happen to the sports stadium.
Don't think anyone wants to post any definite news on here, as it can be read by anyone wishing to visit. The chatroom seems to be better regarded as somewhere comments can be passed around without leaving a permanent record of conversation!
Will post news on the forum or the site as soon as I hear anything worth reporting.

Is there any capability of incorporating audio for chat sessions in the future?
A while back one of the other sites used "hear me" or something similar which enabled anyone with microphone and speakers to chat real time.
Just a thought, be great for us expats to have a real speedway chat with Black Country folk or anyone else for that matter.

Will have to have a think about that one Lee! I'm still trying to iron out the minor glitches with the chatroom we've gone for.
Looking for suggestions now for a date and time of our next meeting. A few people have mentioned it to me and would like to get another chat off the ground soon. Have discussed this weekend, but could be short notice now. How do people feel about the idea of a weeknight this time? Its hard trying to find a time to suit everyone so we'll have to try and accomodate the majority, if possible.

Hi Steve
Can you remeber CHACK the action committee of some 30 years ago. This was formed to help young up and coming riders, equipment etc. One of the committee members was Sam 'Top Hat Man' Messer
who has sadly died a few years back. I was the secretary for the Heathens for some 15 years.
In that time I took Cradley supporters abroad to Germany, Sweden and Poland (twice) to see the World Finals. How can I get in touch with Peter Foster? He has just written a book on the Heathens and I would like to tell him many things.
