Title: Re: Federal Marriage Amendment BS Post by: William on June 06, 2006, 04:35:52 PM That was never an alternative. I support the federalist alternative, because I'm far more of a libertarian than you'll ever be. You see, I have faith in the American people in the long run, and feel that more states will follow in Massachusettes' footsteps when they see that there's nothing to fear.
Alabama is amending their own constitution to ban gay marriage...and guess what, that doesn't bother me. The FMA is just an attempt to score cheap political points. Title: Re: Federal Marriage Amendment BS Post by: William on June 14, 2006, 12:47:02 PM Fostering equal opportunity is nice if you do it right. Affirmative action, for example, is an at least outdated way of handling the problem. But don't bother tearing that apart, as I'm sure you can and would love to, because my point is that until you get into specifics it's very difficult to label things as "good" and "bad." Bad things can be put to good use and good things can be done in bad (or at least ineffective) ways. http://www.khakain.com/ThePlayground/index.php?topic=420.0 ^ read what i said there, four posts down, before you get defensive |
