Fostering equal opportunity is nice if you do it right. Affirmative action, for example, is an at least outdated way of handling the problem.
But don't bother tearing that apart, as I'm sure you can and would love to, because my point is that until you get into specifics it's very difficult to label things as "good" and "bad." Bad things can be put to good use and good things can be done in bad (or at least ineffective) ways.
