You can't possibly be trying to blame Haditha on anyone important? As far as we know so far (it IS pretty early on in the investigation) is that a bunch of Marines went off on their own and did this. Maybe something will turn up later implicating higher-ups like at Abu Ghraib, maybe something has already and I missed it, but condemning an entire government for the actions of a few revenge-driven troops is just nuts.

Do we even know what kinds of torture this is allowing? If this lets interrogators piss on the Quran to get answers, or dress detainees up in women's underwear, or just weird embarassing shit like that, then what's wrong with it? That's not even torture. That's hazing. Draw the line at physical harm.

Waterboarding, hot pokers, etc. It's torture.

Also, Haditha, the white phosphorus story from last year, and the endless stream of torture reports is systemic. They are a result of poor leadership; leadership that does not value values or moral conduct. And that's emblematic of this war here, as it is devoid of the nobility or purpose that characterized our struggles in the two World Wars.
