My opposition to abortion is based on the belief that a fertilized egg has the same potential to be a beneficial, productive adult as does a newborn. Both have no real intellectual capacity or ability to contribute to society, yet destroying the former is legal while the latter is not. The only problem there is that people can take my rationalization further and argue that mastrobation should be outlawed, because sperm are in fact "active" cells and constitute the earliest stage of potential life. I would not go so far as to try and enforce something so ridiculous.

So...

I am personally, deeply troubled by the issue, and deliberate inwardly without much definitive success, resulting in what I wrote above. If I am philosophically on the side of truth though, as my gut tells me, than yes, I believe we are allowing murder (or manslaughter, given that the intent to kill a human being is not the goal of the impregnated) on a massive scale, which is unconscionable.

It's because of this that the clueless MSM label figures like Bob Casey "conservative", and credit the Democrats victory on Tuesday night to fronting such right-wingers as candidates. In that specific instance I think Hugo fucking Chavez could have beaten Santorum, but that's besides the point.

Liberal/Conservative are states of mind pertaining to very specific things, and NOT political ideologies, which is why I hate being described as either or as being aligned to the right or left. The aforementioned, supposedly Republican values I happened to empathize with were meant to point out that, by traditional definition, I probably am no further to the "left" than Mr. water closet, as he posited might be the case.
