Usually when someone asks "is it gay" ... nine times out of ten regardless of what it is ... it's totally gay.
The best way to know for sure is to ask your friends. I'll start with a couple of mine.
1. Is it gay... that I'm obsessed with Lorde? I drunkenly confessed this to my buddies last week and the jokes didn't stop coming all night. My buddy Sean (who knows a lot about my dating history) pointed out that she's the perfect girl for me because she hits all my favorite demographics... mainly, she's only 17 but she looks like she's 37. ouch. Whatever, I don't even care because she's awesome. Her songs are great and I also love the fact that she doesn't give a shit how she looks (though that might be an intentional marketing thing).
2. Is it gay... that I just got back from a trip to Mexico with only my mom? My buddies also made fun of me for this but whatever man I got to spend some quality time with her. We were supposed to go with my brother and dad but they couldn't make it so we went anyway. The only weird thing is the concierge asked us if we were on our honeymoon. Fucking awkard as fuck
Your turn

Your topic is gross. Stop saying things are gay. You're obviously not sucking a dick because you hung out with your mom.

I didn't think people as bro-y as Koosh and his friends still existed!
Lorde had one of the best albums last year. Your friends sound like trolls with no taste in music. What do they like? Ska?

I must of missed the memo indicating that we're now a bunch of highly sensitive and politically correct geezers.
Last time I checked "gay" is just a word. Making a big deal about the use of a word you don't like is lame. I'm not homophobic nor am I racist ... I joke around sometimes but that's all. I think it's a waste of energy to be uptight about stuff like this. Regardless, the intent wasn't to offend anyone so if you want I can change the title to something like "is it girly?".
If I do change the title let's try to avoid arguing about gender roles instead. Gender stereotypes exist. That's a fact. Stereotypes also exist for gay people and lots of other groups. Whether right or wrong it's the way it is. Relax

I'm not talking about it being politically incorrect or offensive anything. Just the idea of a bunch of grown, successfully employed men calling each other gay for their taste in popular music is... baffling to me, I suppose!

You clearly don't know enough successfully employed men And btw, I'm the one that admits to loving Lorde. How does that make me bro-y??

CLEARLY, I'm missing out.
And, because you're concerned over whether or not it's gay!

I'm not concerned about that. I wanted to make a post about Lorde and I wanted to talk about my trip to Mexico so I tried to consolidate the two in a lighthearted thread. At the same time I had a feeling it might annoy Erin but I posted it anyway so I guess in that sense I'm kind of a dick.

I'll still call things gay sometimes.
when you go to a gay bar with your buddy and have to pretend to be his fiancee so he doesn't have to have an awkward conversation with some dude he used to bone you have enough anti-homophobia cred to make it work
you're a fag if you think otherwise

We grew up saying things are gay. I still haven't kicked the habit but after I dated a girl who had a gay brother and another girl who hated it when I used the word i had to learn to ween it out of my vocabulary. Still haven't succeeded tho

the argument is that regardless of your intent when using the word it perpetuates a culture where marginalizing homosexuals is subconsciously acceptable even if you're not trying to associate the term with homosexuality
...but that shit is gay

it's not so much part of my normal lexicon that I'd ever have trouble not saying it in an inappropriate setting though. mostly just when I'm actually hanging out with cool gay dudes because it has the fun irony
or when I'm hanging out with Joe, because he's a 65 year old man
luckily watching dr. quinn is making him self aware. when he gets to the episode where the town is in an uproar about notorious gay walt whitman visiting town and becoming friends with a little boy he will never use a homosexual slur again

I don't care if it's about gays or girls or bros, there's nothing wrong with going on vacation with the person who ushered your mortal ass into this world. Unless that person is horrible to you?? I dunno anything about Lorde, but I unironically enjoy the Neverending Story theme song in my music library and remain heterosexual and masculine to this day. I will report any changes to this thread posthaste.

I went to Disneyworld with my mom in February. It was the greatest. She is the best person to bring on a vacation because she is organized and plans in advance so that we can have the maximum amount of fun. We're always busy and have some sort of schedule to follow when we go on trips together but I'd rather that than being idle and trying to figure out what to do when we're already there. Also, our tastes are fairly compatible.
The overuse of the word 'gay' in this thread is appalling. This is an awful topic and thread.
