Universal basic income, yea or nay?

ive brought this up many times in RL.... nobody gets it.

i don't know... it seems like a good idea, but it really just allows for a corporate control of your entire life... i'm sure it'll happen, but it won't happen in a way to really benefit anyone.

I mean a lotta uneducated bullshit probably - my thoughts might have nothing to do with BI itself, but what better way to enforce complacency country-wide?

BI would probably ease a 'corporate' takeover of the institutions we 'all hold dear'.

I'm gettin mine, the fuck I care about anything else?

Which would you rather, universal basic income but it's very spartan (no frills, food, one room apartment, maybe basic transportation) and you have to work pretty damn hard to get above that

Or 3-day work week for a pretty comfortable life? (decent place to live, can take a trip now and again, etc. etc.)

It's the most batshit unimaginably stupid thing in the world that we've had all the technological advances we've had since, say, 1950 and we're still working (more than) eight hours a day, five days a week. The shit needs to end.

Didn't Jeb Bush or some other conservative shrew say recently that Americans need to work MORE hours and even HARDER?

Matt your question kind of relates to me in a way. I wouldn't say my salary is bad, but I always wonder if I could be making more at a different job. Right now I am comfortable though. I have a relatively decent schedule, I'm good at my job, I have good benefits, I have a decent place to live, can take a trip now and again, etc...

I could probably work harder somewhere else if I was guaranteed to make 10K to 15K more in salary, but for now I'm taking the comfort route.

In Norway, their prisoners are forced to work in archaic manners, if only to extend the hours of their labour (y'know, for REASONS). There is a similar thing occurring 'here'. It's all a joke. But let's keep listening for the punch line.

I'd choose neither, ask everyone to fuck off and live in a tree. I'm sure most sensible people would agree.

Many of us remember that you used to be known as X-Pac, a name taken from a WWE wrestler. What was your favorite thing about X-Pac the wrestler?

I like it when he goes like "suck it" and makes a gesture towards his genitals.
