English is the goofiest fucking major to have ever, in case you haven't figured it out. It's like a crash course towards learning nothing useful. Never will you find people with less passion and less creativity than those who major or have majored in english. I really oughta change mine, and soon.

Yeah, I'm hoping to turn it into a broadcasting career possibly. Going to take a course that combines a more hands on 'college' approach and the theoretical 'university' approach.

Hint: College and University mean the same education and/or a college is a particular campus of a university. canadia uses the words stupidly.

so there is no value in creating or searching for meaning in a great work of literature?

What I want to know is what clown college considers Frankenstein collegiate material? I read it TWICE just while typing this post.

I'm double majoring in business/English. I like literature classes, but you're right, the degree won't be very useful. I suppose I could start my own publishing company or magazine or something.

There's value in a lot of things, but that doesn't make then necessary.

College and university are two very distinct things in canadia. College is akin to community college in the states, I would assume, and University's are like "colleges" in the states.

Basically, the smart kids go to university to learn all about theory and the dumb kids go to college to work with their hands, and what not.

When we enter high school we have a choice to choose between "academic" classes and "applied" classes. if you take applied classes you are ineligible for university.

Yeah, we have that in America.  In America "applied" classes are called "vocational" classes and are (at least they were at my high school) often in a separate building.

You're wrong Lex. In America we call "applied classes" special education.

I know how it works, which is why I'm qualified to call it stupid.

Almost as stupid as your MONEY.

In my high school, "applied classes" were called "GPA padding."

Yeah, there's a college and a university in Lethbridge, and thanks to you silly Americans I accidently say I go to the college all the time. Jeez.

I'm an English Major with a Social Studies minor. I'm going into Education, which is really one of  the only good reasons to go into English anyway.

And I love my Prof and the classes I'm taking. Just move to Lethbridge.

We have Vocational campuses that are entirely separate to our high schools.  There's usually one per county and then all the kids from that county, regardless of high school, who don't want to go to real school go there.

We had Education for Employment and Education for the Arts.  I took TV Broadcasting and Production because I love that shit... and Hotel and Restaurant Management because I thought I wanted to go into the field... boy was I wrong.

Then we also had cosmetology, auto repair, advanced shop class, and ag for the rednecks, white trash, and dumb ass stoners

I should mention that EFE and EFA was great for stoners because you could smoke down like you had glaucoma between going to and from the class and then before you had to go back to the HIgh School, because they usually allowed you time for lunch.

Yeah, we do have a radio station, although I'm not sure how many people really listen... however you've brought up a really, really good idea Joe. I didn't even think of that..
