Has anybody of you ever seen a c-melody mouthpiece from Geo M. Bundy? I have bought an old sax. While I was taking it apart, I found this mouthpiece. It was stuck inside the sax, but not in the bell, but way up in the upper key section.
I started reconizig it, when all keys where taken of, and I saw these strange looking "tone holes". It took quite a bit to get it our there.
It's a very old mpc. I could hardly read the wrinting on it. It is size 3.
I had a Bundy alto mouthpiece before, but never heard of a c-melody one. Did anybody of you ever play one?
I'm thinkin of selling it, since I have the dream combination for my c-mels. What do you thin is it worth?

Anke - there was a Bundy C-Mel up for sale on ebay a little while back, probably a Buescher stencil, so I guess there are matching mouthpieces around.
Pictures are still there at-

Looks to be late 20's, has the alt-F# new style 'spatula key' same as on very late Buescher C-Mels. This listing doesn't mention a mouthpiece, maybe the buyer would like to complete his setup. This is the first Bundy C-Mel I've seen in quite a few years watching C-Mels. Guess this is where the 'Bundy' name came for later saxes.
Good luck with the selling, as you know on ebay, if there are two buyers that want it (especially if they are new to ebay), then the price can go way up...

Anke - your story about the mouthpiece stuck in the sax also made me laugh as I recently got a sax that wouldn't play at all, and this spikey think fell out of the bell, all quivering.
I thought it may have been something like a small hedgehog or porcupine, but it was one of those rubber things (with lots of spines on) that kids throw around - made me jump tho' !!
As you know, unexpected nice things come with old C-Mels (my tenor 'Goldbeck' mpc came that way) - just opened up an old King C-Mel case, and there was an ebonite Lelandais (Chedeville) mouthpiece smiling at me. Pleasant surprise... Another C-Mel used seriously.

Yeap Alan, they are always good for a nice suprise. Wether it is theirself (great sounding) or when the have these little secret treasures burry somewher in their case :)). I guess I would have gotten a hard attack!
That way I also got a Gregory mouthpiece a while ago. Just by selling this mouthpiece I almost got 3x as much, as what I had paid for the sax. That was a nice suprise. I love these!
