HAS ANY ONE ANY KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THIS MOUTHPIECE?I ORDERED ONE FROM MY MUSIC STORE WHO TOLD ME AFTER A MONTH THE DISTRBUTOR DIDN'T GET THEM IN. I FOUND A SCORCE FOR THEM AVALIBLE IN PLASTIC AND HARD RUBBER BUT ONLY IN ONE OPENING SIZE .067 WHICH IS SMALLER THAN A BEECHLER#2 AT .070 ARE THEY WORTH A TRY?

Babbitt are known for Links etc., and there was a C-Mel Babbitt mpc on ebay recently. I refrained from buying as it was only available in plastic, not ebonite. As I understand it, dealers can order a 'batch' of these from Babbitt, private individuals can't buy direct.

Certainly worth a try, maybe not a buy, but why bother when ebonite tenor Links (Tone Edge) give near perfect intonation on C-Mels combined with a big thick sound. 7 or 7* is about perfect, with a medium reed.

70 thou is a little close, which is/was the problem with the original mpcs. Interestingly, Babbitt also produced a small run of ebonite Links for C-Mel in the not too distant past.

I use an older Babbitt ebonite on alto clarinet ( stop laughing, someone has to play them ! ) sadly it produces a rather gentle tone, easily swamped by other instruments. I like it tho' - touch of the 'anorexic saxophone'.
