I have an alto sax mouthpiece I want to play on except it has a small chip out of it. Chip is located on the left side when it is placed in your mouth. What would you recommend as a filler for a repair? Or should I even bother; how much of a chip is ok.

I would not bother unless it is some rare item. What is it?

It's a Yamaha 4C standard student mouthpiece I paid zero for, in excellent shape except for the minor chip. So nothing lost if I ruin it. I played on it and it sounds good with a Selmer S-80 C*sound.

The Yamaha 4C is a really good first student mouthpiece, the Selmer S-80 C* and the Yamaha Custom 4C mouthpieces are step up mouthpieces from that.

You can find those on ebay for $15-25 so what is your time worth?

If I can use 2 cents worth of some kind of material to build up the flat lay on the front of the mouthpiece, and file even where the chip is, yes it would be worth it.Almost free is always better than $15.So what would be a good material to use---something that would bond forever to plastic.
