C Melody Saxophone Forum / C-Soprano Saxophones / C-Soprano to replace FLUTE?

The local high school band has eliminated the flute section from the marching season. The claim that the flutists are overblowing to be heard and thus are destroying their embouchure.

To defend my flutist daughter, I talked to the band director. However, my daughter told me not to attack the flute issue, so I demonstrated my C-Soprano saxophone and asked him if that would fill the need for the soprano voice that was lost with the flutes being eliminated.

He was very interested. So, I told him to give me his four best flutists and I will get them playing the C-Soprano saxophone by August. However, we need to get three or four more C-Soprano saxophones (about $2,400 at current prices, including reconditioning).

So, wish us luck. Pray for us, and if you have a few C-Sopranos laying around them collecting dust, send them to us!

With this effort, the Joyful Noise Band and Choir has begun to be formed!!!!!!!!

Thanks, but the flute section has deserted me on this. One (my daughter) has chosen to play the Tenor sax, while the remainder of the section has jumped to the pit and will be playing marimbas, etc.
