I was given a sax from a lady while i was helping her move. I took it to a shop and they told me that that it was a C-Melody Martin. From what i could find it looks like it was made in 1927. Any idea on how much its worth? serial number is 75938

If you do a search on completed auctions for c-melody saxophones you will see that they go for between US$200 and US$500 with the only martin listed going for US$289.

Hi,
I'm interested in the C Meldoy TENOR Sax. I live in Autralia and i've been playing for 10 years. Would anyone know where i could perhaps purchase such a rare instrument. Any info or links would be most appreciated.

There have been a "few" real nice C-mels for sale on ebay... most are junk but in the last week there were 4 real good ones. You can get a feel for the price there.

What do you suggest for a case? I bought a gig bag but this doesn't seem sturdy enough for planes.----

A C melody will fit in any tenor sax case ---add some padding. C melody cases are made and run about $100USA; put in C melody case on google. Check with music repair shops; they may have a C melody hard Case.

Go to the DEG website, below, and scroll down to SC15, which is their C Melody case. I own two of these cases; they're very nicely constructed.

I have a Buescher too and WOW it is really a good horn. I like the C much better than the Alto, Tenor or Soprano Bueschers. I find that a Selmer Super Session Alto mouthpiece is the best match for me maybe because of the large chamber.
I really need to sell another identical one that is very original but needs a complete redo. The case is good, original mouthpiece etc. I sold my Conn straight neck years ago but I am looking for one for comparison.

Wonderful to hear you like your Buecher also. I use an--faxx resinoid mouth piece large chamber. My son used it for one year while at school in Texas at Tean Mania Ministeries. I have used it eversince. I have the Martin which I played momentarily when I first bought it--now for sale.
until later William.
