Like some loathsome creeping cancer, the pond life spammers have effectively destroyed this site.
My thanks and best wishes to all who have posted here.
It has been fun and educational (with the odd battle or two!). I feel particularly sorry for Wade who has worked hard to bring a crowd of eccentrics together.
I do hope that I am mistaken and that this site will rise from the ashes...but, just in case...bye bye, keep blowing & I will never forget you. X

I'm so sorry, Wade about the difficulties on this site. I keep talking about how the lust for $$ has destroyed many of the good things in society. Spam is about $$. I'm not a Leftist, but Karl Marx did make some good observations, such as, "Money is the alienation of the spirit of man." I hope this clears up some day, as this was the first chat I have really loved.

Jazzbug.
I feel as I felt all those years ago when I left school; knowing secretly that I would never see my school friends again.
It has been great fun...let's hope that we can all get together again.

The strength of the board (its utter simplicity) is also its downfall. Although a social problem is rarely solved with a technical answer, new software would help a great deal.

It's the spam that drove me away.

The annoying thing is, it's not the actual spam itself that's the real problem (I've just deleted a handful of spam topics, something I do on almost every visit - as, I note, other people do).
The real annoyance, is that posting the spam alters the 'last post' (that's an ominous phrase...) date. So, whilst it's a pain to keep removing the spam, it's an even bigger pain for visitors to then find the REAL last valid comment from amongst the raft of new dates on old topics/comments.
I think I understand what I just wrote ! This is now a spam-free zone (afaik) for a least the next few seconds, byee...

I should add, that this was THE site that got me interested in C Saxes, so whatever I can do, I will continue to do (time and sanity permitting..:-)

(2008) I haven't been here for about a week and hadn't heard about this. It would be too bad if this site goes down. I too, learned a heck of a lot about C-mels from all you experts. I tried to contribute too, by reviewing the C-mels i bought. We could all meet on SOTW soprano area, but that's not really the same.

By all means keep this site active... even though I only comment rarely, I read this site every new post.
P.S. I'm still waiting for my c-mel from steve.

As am I, though I already have the Buescher and just won the bidding for a second one. I fully intend to keep the one I fixed up/upgraded, but the second one may be up for grabs (though I'm keeping the case, that's why I bid on it in the first place).
I think two C-mels would be a good foundation for a two-horn technique like Rahsaan Roland Kirk's.

Mal - it'd be great to see if Buescher MkII has exactly the same intonation 'challenges', or if you have a whole set of different/new ones...
