Hello there,
Back in 1988 I´ve bought a strange sax in London, most because it looked cool.
I had it renovated to perfect shape, but since then I have almost never played it.
It is probably very rare here in Sweden, and I do not now much about it. Can you please help me with all your knowledge, and advise me if I should sell it or not? How old is the sax?
It is a Selmer New York, has a serial number 76599, and marked "LOW PITCH license pat dec B 1914"

Jonas from Sweden - Your saxophone was probably made BY Buescher FOR Selmer. It is a C melody worth about $300.00 to $400.00 Us dollars in Very Good Condition. Even though it has the Selmer name on it, it is not a real Selmer. It is a stencil distributed by Selmer New York. Made in America (USA). They are not rare at all here in the states. But in Sweden, who knows. Only you can have knowledge of that because you live there. Remember. The true answer lies in "Supply & Demand".

Everything that Jungle Jim says is correct. You asked the age of the sax; it will, almost certainly have been made in the 1920s. We are assuming that it is a C Melody...sized roughly between an Eb alto and a Bb tenor, or, the body of the sax (without the crook fitted) being aprox. 24".
I used to visit Sweden every winter with the British Motor Industry for cold start and drive away tests. Temperatures down to minus 40 degrees. Beautiful country that I never saw it in the summer.
