Seasons Greetings and Happy Holidays to some of the best folks on the planet; All of you chaps and fellows and girls on the C Melody Saxophone Forum. Wade, Alan, Captain Bb, Ukebert, Jim B, Jazzbug1, Castaway, Cool Runnin' Man, Jungle Jim and everyone else here. You people are the Salt of the Earth. When I am traveling abroad I think of you people on a constant basis. And the thoughts are all Good Ones that make me feel happy and comfortable no matter where I am. I'll be off again in about 4 days. I am going to Encinada, Mexico. They've got some of the best coffee and Mezcal Tiquila that I have ever tasted. THe women are beautiful and the Muggles is grown right there on the mountain right outside of town. (Great soil). I'll spend many a night thinking of all of you. If I get near an available computer, I'll participate a little bit and give you the local news too.

Mugs, If it's the same 'Ensenada', down the coast from Tijuana, I've been there, done that, still got the bumper sticker.
Great place - you could get a slap up meal, and a few Christmas beers, for $10 each (and that included a generous tip) - plus a random selection of wildly out of tune street bands, and begging urchins. That was in the 80's, so prices may have changed ?
I remember well the villa's of the 'rich and famous' on the coastal side of the highway, and the ramshackle shanty huts on the slopes the other side of the road.
It did, with the stark wealth contrasts, seem more like the real Mexico then 'Tourist Tijuana'. 'Course, we got into all kinds of sh*t for taking a California hire car down to Mexico, bad enough out-of-state, but Mexico !!!! But then the pimply faced youth from the hire company had (erroneously) said "Yeah, no problemo...", whilst giving us 10% of his attention, so we were covered - can't get the staff ! Good times, say 'hello' to it from me.

Excuse me!!! I feel just a little bit tipsy. Just watched the Queen on TV and with a bottle of absynthe just half way down by the side of my chair I think I will be out by tea time. Top Hole every one from a wet Yorkshire.

To all - Your advice will be well taken. Alan Tucker: Yes it is the same Ensenada. They sell silver jewelry right on the street corners and the people are very nice. Four blocks away from the tourest section going towards the mountain range is where the natives live and shop. It is a whole different atmosphere than the tourest section just blocks away. Ensenada is located in the Baja, California section of Mexico. There are Mariachi bands roaming the streets and playing in the courtyards of most cafes. They are hawking great authentic Mexican cuisine on the street corners out of portable carts. AND the prices are right and the people are honest. I once dropped a $20.00 bill while reaching into my pocket and a small boy chased me down to return it to me. I didn't even know that I had dropped it. Most of the home made mezcal comes in plastic gallon milk jugs and contains about 10 to 15 guava worms laying on the bottom of the jug. I Love it there and amhoping to stay for about 6 weeks to 2 months before continuing to a gig in San Diego, California. Thanks for the feedback.

Happy Christmas a bit late. I was off to visit my father upstate who is now 93. Interesting as he got me into playing in the band as he did in the 20s. He played a Buescher C Melody! I guess the Mango doesn't fall far from the tree.
