Steve,
To help promote the Aquila Sax C tenor how about making a poster for those of us on this site to download and print to show our respective local musical instrument retailers.
Any other ideas?

Scrap that, the picture is one of his current altos. Dear me.

I know what you mean Bb, I've been playing Piano almost exclusively with a little melodeon thrown in. I have sadly neglected the sax, clarinet and ukulele :-(

No problem; I too spotted that it was an alto.
Looks so good that I am wondering if I could have a tenor in that finish with the underslung octave rocker from the C Mel. Tasty.
Snag is that I can find no reviews on Aquilasax tenors. This in concert with my biased views against Aisian saxophones...all that I have tried are as polite, charming and inoffensive as their citizens. I like a bit of rough. ;-)

Sadly, and I hope Steve reads this (or you guys email him) - his sax looks so good in the prototype 'bare-brass' - but it's apparently not one of the 'offered' finishes.

Here's the latest from Steve, in response to an email, and I'll add it to my webpage, later - in BIG letters, and italics - so no-one can miss/misread it ( ;-)) :

(quote)
" The new C sax will have comfortable modern ergonomic key work with a light left hand pinky cluster. C# is slaved to all pinky keys. Keyed to High F#. The neck strap hook ring is on balance so it won’t take out your teeth when you relax.
A curved tenor style neck will be standard with an option of a straight alto style neck. Both will have under slung octave levers with the vent hole retained at the top.

The left hand thumb button will be wider than vintage with an inset of genuine New Zealand Paua shell.
They will be available in Gold lacquer, Nickel silver, black nickel or silver plate.

The production has been pencilled in for June so Iexpect to have them ready (play tested) in July .
They will be shipped direct to customers for about $85.00 and the base model, (gold lacquer) will sell for $700.00 with a curved
neck and no engraving.

UK buyers - don't forget to add in 17.5% VAT, and (I believe) 5% import duty, plus the obligatory (small) factoring charge.

That makes the UK base price around $1000 - somehow I don't think I could get the Chinese factory to put '$50 gift' on the Customs form........sadly......

Still a good price, but something you should be aware of.

Lewis - I missed your question, and "no" - I'm not an agent..... Just doing it out of the kindness of a cynical old heart. And a bit of admiration for his efforts, it has to be said.

Yes, I usually manage to avoid it on the old'uns, although not strictly legal, but then it's the seller who mis-describes it......;-))

It's the thought of paying over 20% extra for something 'used' that I rescued from obscurity, with money that's been taxed to the hilt already ! But obviously a new 'un is different.

I did mention in earlier posts on saxontheweb, that it's a pity Steve can't find a dealer INSIDE the EEC to avoid VAT etc., or whatever other Euro'-countries charge - there are some pretty ropey recent new additions to the EEC who wouldn't have many overheads.... (feed for the horse, grease for the cart axles, piece of straw to chew on...)

Alan...Of course I knew that you were doing it from the kindness of your heart.
Bit more expensive than we were led to believe.
I cannot believe that they will not be available in bare brass, it certainly must be an option; as in.."no, don't lacquer it, don't plate it...just LEAVE it alone and get on with building it!"
With your connections with C instruments, being used to sticking stamps on boxes and taking them down to the Post Office, coupled with having nothing better to do in your retirement :-)) I would have thought that you would be the perfect European Agent.

Nooo..... I meant someone in the EEC 'closer' to China, with a relatively unsophisticated import/export (e.g. back of a truck) regime. If they came in here first, I'd have to pick up the VAT on all of them..... But a dealer in Bulgaria or Romania ?

I've emailed Steve asking about a basic lacquer model, but with "hold the lacquer" option.......

Steve.
On your website you state that the prototype has shewn that some keywork mods will be necessary. From the photograph there seems to be a large gap between the B key and the bis button.
Please tell me that the gap will be smaller than the Conn. On their C Mel it is almost possible to place your index finger through the gap.

Yes Cap'n,
that's one of the mods.
I'm basically getting it to suit me as everyone has different size hands I figure I'll please myself. I don't like to move my hands much to get the job done so it's all closer than some other saxes might be.

I've had about 60 replies to finish options and Gold lacquer is favourite these days.
Surprised me!

STeve, what would it take to become a dealer (reseller) of these saxophones?

Bulk purchasing power and an import licence and you'd have to be a C mel player and a member of this forum.

Alan...The second Noel is an imposter...it was I.
I typed his name, as the recipient of an answer, into the wrong slot...
