As suggested by another poster, I am opening this thread for general chatter on any subject.
Those with no social skills, the grumpy, they who feel inclined to hide their background, they who still live with their mother, the anti social, they who never go out, those who know it all, those who contribute nothing but moans, those who tell us how to behave, the self opinionated, and the Oh, so serious, please feel free not to contribute.

wasn't the word for green corrosion on copper, something like "verdigris" ? Starts the same as "vermicelli" !
Of course there's a need for inspired lunacy, and slightly surreal debate, the world would be a sadder place without it....
'Cool'- I used to get confused between the two tenor players JR Montrose and Jack Montrose (now sadly deceased) - I've even seen 'JR' printed as JR Monterose, with an extra 'e'.
(but I do know the difference now, before anyone explains...)

SALT LAKE CITY - A suspicious package left outside a fast-food restaurant Wednesday turned out to be a trumpet that has sounded its last note.
Someone noticed a suspicious package, and several blocks were closed down for about two hours as police investigated.
A robot detonated the case — and the fears were resolved.
"Some very alert citizens watched this package for a considerable amount of time and then they called the police thinking it didn't look right," Salt Lake City police Detective Gary Trost said.
"Gratefully enough, it was just a trumpet."

Some years ago, during our IRA hassle, we had a gig in Nottingham. Arriving early, we parked the Transit van near the gig venue and headed off for a drink. On our return, the whole area was cordoned off by the police.
Further enquiries revealed that a suspicious white Transit contained a bomb like parcel on the shelf behind the windscreen....the bass player's sandwich box.
Apologies to the worthy citizens of Nottingham for disrupting their town for an hour.

When I was working in London at the same time, we came back from a liquid lunch (someone was retiring) to find the occupants of the many floors all out on the pavement.
The chap who was retiring asked to go and pick up one of his retirement presents, which he'd left in reception, to save taking it to the pub.
"It's an a;arm clock" he said "you know, the one that looks like an old fashioned alarm clock, but with curly wires and imitation sticks of dynamite...."
Oooops....... (true story !)
Amazingly, the Natwest Tower was blown up by the IRA shortly afterwards !

I don't know if any of you noticed, but the Pound smashed through the 2 Dollar barrier today, making buying items from the states even cheaper. Six months ago it was 1.85 Dollars to the Pound. Of course it also means that Americans buying from the UK have to part with more Dollars than before.
