Hey guys. Just thought you might find it interesting.
<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7358689786&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.com%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26satitle%3D7358689786%26fvi%3D1"> MY C MELODY</a href>
I'm not real knowledgeable on these things anymore, but I think this is an early model C Melody. It's a 179XXX serial number. If anyone wants to ask questions please feel free to respond. I will check this forum frequently. Thanks!

Wow - love your prose " this sax needs a cleaning to make it totally awe inspiring, but right now the antiquity of it is breathtaking to connesieurs." Guess I need to be careful looking at more than one of mine at the same time - I may seriously die from not being able to inhale.....
A question or three, it looks to have the original (white) snap-in pads, are they mostly sound (i.e not cracked, ripped or hard), and, it's difficult to see from the pics - and I suspect it's not got the top "Aux-Front-F" pearl key ?
The neck may not be original, as it doesn't have the Buescher 'man in the moon' brace on the underside - is there a serial number on the neck (by the tenon), or any solder marks on the underside of the neck where the brace may have been ? - sometimes the brace gets removed if the neck has been straightened.
Last question, have you played it since 10 years ago ? Does it play now ? Thanks.

Alan.....This Ebay seller (mplsminimania) is obviously delusional or uninformed, or both about this C Melody! Quotes: (1) "Rare Satin Silver Finish"! (2) "Awesome piece of history" and on and on and on. The vast majority of ALL C melodys are satin silver1 C Melodys are great, but there is nothing awesome about this horn! A connesuer will look at this horn and say "It"s Alright, but nothing special"; etc., etc., etc.! I am not trying to demean this seller, but reading his comments about his horn is a classic example of how uninformed buyers get sucked into buying average products based on the uninformed Hype given by the seller! Mplsminimania may hate me if he reads this post; BUT EVERY WORD OF IT IS TRUE!

Hey,ebay is a business. My condolences that you don't happen to be good enough at business to write a listing the way it should be written. haha
You know, when you are trying to sell something you try to make it look good and create a sense of need in the buyer... you learn that with sales.
Anyhow, it's still for sale. Thanks for the comments guys.

The value is up to you! If you are the seller, then it's worth a whole bunch. But, if you are the buyer, it's only worth "lower figure here". Depends on which side of the fence you are on.
It's amazing what good ad copy can generate!

Jamal.....Purposeful deception is not Good Business; It is purposeful Deception! Don't try to justify it. At first, I thought you were just uninformed; But now I can see you are just trying to sell a product by using whatever means necessary. No hard feelings. It's just a shame you had to lash out at me for Telling the Truth! But then; That's your problem not mine!

Lash out at you?
Captain Muggles:
How about you can it and reread the auction. I clearly stated that I am not a pro sax player and would answer any questions to the bes tof my knowledge.
I'm basing everything in the description on my opinion and what I remember being told about it.
If you don't like it, don't buy it.
Whatever you do, please stop crying. I would hardly say that I lashed out at you pal... I clearly stated I don't know a lot about sax's, so get off my back bucko.
ALAN:
The snap in white pads that are on there seem to be very nice. None are cracked as far as I can tell. I can check when I get home for you though. A few of them have ben replaced as of late.
Please send me a link to a picture of this front F key and I will check if it has one. Like I said, I 'm not a sax player. Honestly, I'm a death and thrash metal drummer, so this is all greek to me. I'm just going by what I was always told about this sax. :)
I will check on the neck when I get home for you too. I can get a better look and some more close up pictures of it so you can take a look and see what you think is the situation with it.

Jamal:......I think the Captain just let you hang yourself. I love it when he does that. He can bring out the true character of someone like you with just a few paragraphs. I guess he was right in his original post about you after all.

Jamal forgets that some of this group are not familiar with american expressions since they reside in the UK. Kotex is a suppository some drummers use.
I think we are all overlooking one of Jamal's points in the ad which is quite valid however, that he is not a pro sax player. The satin sax finish we must admit is rare on new saxs today although it is making a comeback.
