Hi All;

I have decided to allow forum members to submit pictures for use above the banner of this forum. This can be pictures of C-Melody saxophones or saxophonists. I will also allow pictorial advertising since this is above the service provider’s advertising banner. Email you pictures to wwalkerjr@verizon.net with the subject "C-Mel Picture Submission".

I will edit the pictures so that they are no more than 640 pixels wide by 240 pixels high.

Thanks for you participation in the wonderful forum! You make this a great forum and I am glad to be a small part of it.

I tend to chomp reeds when I am playing tenor and have a super tight embouchure on alto, so getting a good sound on the c with a neutral face is really weird for me.

Darn horns and being subjective to the player or not...

ESB - The following is based on very little information and could be all wrong. It is of course just my opinion and is definitely worth what you paid for it.

Your embouchure should be neutral on basically ALL saxophones. If you are tight on the alto and chomping on tenors, you need to work at relaxing and checking the horns for intonation and adjustment.

Based upon your description, it seems that you do not push the mouthpiece far enough on to the cork and then compensate by squeezing your embouchure.

Of course, having said that, I do know that as you go to smaller Saxes, your embouchure must become tighter and as you move to bigger Saxes your embouchure must be looser.

When I played alot of bari I had an old RIA aluminium piece that I just chewed through reeds with/ All of my control is in my bottom lip (never let teeth touch top of any piece) with the air pressure coming from my neck (I have a weird little frog like air sac next to my larynx thanks to that tendency) which basically makes the way I play all messed up. Once I get teh chops back it should be alright...finding time to play everyday is a pain in teh ass right now.

Speaking of which, it is sleeting again. Why did I even bother to wait on the framing job...

I think I will have some shots coming from the gig I played last night with my Martin handcraft. I really hope so; it was the most fun I've had at a gig in a long, long time.

Wade 640 x 240 seems like a cinemascope size pic. Did you mean 640 x 480. I see the picture of Captain Beeflat is 400 x 300. Just asking.

Actually, you can send any size picture you would like. The 640 x 240 was basically the target maximum size so that the picture does not dominate the page. And yes, this is a "cinemascope" width, so wide banners are acceptable.

As for the Captain Beeflat picture, the original sent to me as 1600 x 1200, I just edited it by adding the caption and then reducing the size to fit the banner.

So, send me your pictures and I will edit them with an appropriate caption and reduce size so that the width does not exceed 640 pixels, and the height is about 240 pixels. Having said that, you did notice that I allowed 300 pixels for the Bb picture, so it is a guideline, not a hard and fast rule!

It is variable depending on the number of submissions. I would like to change the picture weekly. Of course, with very few (read that ONE) submission to date, the display time could be l-o-n-g-e-r! I'm thinking monthly at this point.
