Wade - knowing that this could mean more work for you, I think I'd better explain why I said 'I'll second that' - it was a bit glib...

A lot of sax players either started on clarinet at school, or learnt clari as a double.

Having got into a 'non-transposing' mode, something a little higher than a C-Mel is useful (O.K., flute is an option). C-Soprano's are expensive these days, but C-Clarinets can be picked up for $100 and upwards on ebay - so could well be a viable alternative for lots of cash-strapped players - and the clari's don't have as many intonation problems as the sops.

I know there are specific clarinet forums - like "The Clarinet BBoard" (phorum)- but it is a great heaving mass of wierd clarinet enthusiasts talking about 'Buffet' and 'eefers' etc. etc..

We just love THIS forum, it's like home, a place for gentle C-Nutters, and we're all deeply appreciative of all your efforts !

It's my turn to second Alan. ha ha ha

It's my feeling that the C clarinet can be a logical next step for c-melody or C soprano players who double on clarinet. Thus, it may not be that much out of line to have a section devoted to it on a C saxophone forum.

The C clarinet is a specialized instrument much like the c-melody. It gets some discussion on the Woodwind clarinet forum. But, one gets a feeling that it's a fish out of water in the Bb clarinet world in a way that's all too familiar to c-melody players.

I've found the C clarinet to be a great double for my c-melody. It would be helpful to have a place where we can talk about it within a larger context that includes the c-melody.

As Allan already said, we are DEEPLY appreciative of all of your efforts and help you've given us.
