My message board on this site shews the last posting on August 28th. Has no-one written since that date or do I have a fault.
Half the reason for this post is to check my computer updating...........

By the way Lewis - I just bought an ageing bagpipe chanter (just to see how I get on with the fingering). If I like it I may buy some pipes, don the 'trews' (too draughty for a kilt!) and become the first ex-pat Cornish piper....

Since this is the suggestions board, I assume that you are suggesting we all "don the 'trews' (too draughty for a kilt!) and become ..." pipers...?

SelmerS... I am that aforesaid 'cornish-tinminer' person, I've been here all the time (I also pontificate elsewhere as 'tinminer' or 'DorsetDriftwood').

Wade, well, that would be a natty 'double' - C-melody and bagpipes - don't think I've ever seen that on a record sleeve... Just think of all the Irish and Scottish parades you could get involved in ! Dodgy on the liver tho' !!

Returning to the origin of this thread; I can now, thanks to Alan's suggestions & my wife's expertise, rejoin this forum. At one stage I thought that I had been barred!
Alan & WW2, please bear in mind that the bagpipes were invented to scare the enemy, which, to me explains their non musical wails - they are a weapon, not an instrument. That should bar me from any bagpipe forum....nice to be "back" & thanks again Alan.

Funny that comment about 'weapon' Lewis - when I was thinking of buying a set of bagpipes from a US seller (strange turn of events - but seemed logical at the time), the seller was trying to tell me they could be imported into the UK duty-free as they were still classed as 'weapons'.

But who wants to put that on a customs declaration......
