I do own a number of these CDs and recommend them to anyone who wants to hear saxophonists playing great music. It may not be Jazz as many of us prefer, but it is great music. I especially enjoy the Brown Brothers. Their music reminds me of all the old cartoons from my childhood. Many of these old cartoons are set to great musical scores that include lots of saxophones. Sigurd Rascher’s classical works are something to behold. He shows virtuosity on the saxophone that I only dream about achieving! In keeping with the intent of recording the music without alteration, some of the music is captured from the original Edison Cylinders! Because of being recorded directly from the Edison Cylinders or 78-rpm disk or even Vinyl LPs, the scratches and pops can be heard. It may not sound as polished as modern CDs, but is quite an experience. MOST of the recorded music is clear with no distortion or pops. I believe these CDs are well worth the investment for a serious student of the saxophone.
