I'm really glad I came out.. I was so close to bailing but it was totally worth it to drag my ass off my couch and downtown. The highlight of the night was when Kris pissed off a crazy old man who was harassing some women and then afterwards gave us an opportunity to chat them up. Then Spree found the hottest one out of the three and started flirting like a champ.

If you did nothing but drive and rotated driver shifts and handled everything food and digestion and sleep-related in the car or on the side of the road and your car was in good enough condition to handle it you could manage it in 2 days.
If you plan to actually sleep outside the car, count on 3-4.
If you want to see anything at all along the way (most likely you'd pass by Chicago and Vegas....and a whole lot of nothing else, though plenty of detour opportunities), count on a week or so.

I'd do 2 days that's not too bad. I don't know why but I really like road trips though I've never done one this long. The longest I've been was to Florida and that was awesome (we made it in 17 hours). I think we could do this trip in two and a half days if we wanted to stop and eat.

I drove from SF to Houston with Matt twice without stopping for a hotel (~27 hours). It can get pretty sucky because car sleep isn't good sleep and around 3 AM, I could only stay awake for an hour or two at a time. I started to get grouchy. Also, New Mexico is really boring and depressing.

Ehhhh, just still figuring out exactly what's going on with me around that time, in most areas of my life. I am kinda turning everything upside down in a couple weeks when I get back home. Koosh and Kris, I am still potentially down for the road trip, but unfortinately I just can't commit until closer to the date... Really sorry about that, but I'm a bit between a rock and a hard place with my life situation at the moment. That's the only thing. I would be down for blasting it and just heading to SD with no stops, but I am wondering if the potential financial savings would outweigh the couple days it would take to get down there? Just something to think about. Would definitely be fun... |
